When it comes to mobile internet download speeds, terms like 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G are often used. Referring to four different generations of mobile technology, each of them gives a very different download speed.
Older 2G connections give a download speed of around 0.1Mbit/s, with this rising to around 8Mbit/s on the most advanced 3G networks. Speeds of around 60Mbit/s are available on 4G mobile networks in the UK (but this can be substantially higher in other countries like the US). Next-generation 5G mobile networks are targeting a download speed of over 1,000Mbit/s (1Gbit/s).

Applications that make use of streaming include voice over IP (e.g. calling via Skype or WhatsApp), online video apps (e.g. Netflix and YouTube) and online radio. The following table shows minimum download speeds you would require for this content to play smoothly without buffering:
Many people argue that the benefits of 5G are more from having reduced latency and increased capacity rather than having faster download speeds. This is because the download speeds available on 4G are already fast enough for most uses (e.g. 5Mbit/s is already more than enough for high-definition video). However, despite faster download speeds not making a huge difference here, the reduction in latency from 5G technology will help overall response time.
In everyday life, it is most useful to talk about download speeds in megabits per second (Mbit/s). 2G connections are sometimes specified in kbit/s (e.g. the maximum download speed for GPRS is 80kbit/s). Similarly, 5G connections are sometimes specified in Gbit/s (e.g. the target download speed for 5G technology is 1-10Gbit/s). For ease of comparison, we have converted these measurements to be in the common unit of Mbit/s.
If you don't want to use a profile anymore, you can delete it from your PC. If you delete the profile and want to add it again later, you'll need to download the profile again and might need to contact your mobile operator.
5G is the fastest mobile network technology available and at the time of writing real-world download speeds are averaging around 130-250Mbps, but networks claim peak speeds of 1Gbps or more are already possible, and in future 5G could become far faster still, once the infrastructure and technologies improve.
Opensignal meanwhile in data from September 2022 points to Three having by far the highest average 5G download speed at 228.4Mbps, followed by EE at 130.5Mbps, then Vodafone at 105.2Mbps, and finally O2 at 92.3Mbps. For average upload speed, EE tops the chart at 15.9Mbps, followed closely by Three at 15.1Mbps, then Vodafone at 14Mbps and O2 at 10Mbps.
EE is still clearly the fastest 4G network, with average speeds up to twice as fast as the other 3 networks according to tests. Vodafone and Three are now on a pretty level footing across the UK in terms of average 4G upload and download speeds, but O2 is notably slightly behind in tests.
Hello friends, hope you all are fine and having fun with your lives. In today's post, I am going to share GSM Library for Proteus. Yeah you have read absolutely fine, today I am gonna share the most awaited and most demanded Proteus Library. :) Till now, I have received hundreds of suggestions and requests about this Library and I have always told them that its under designing process and I will post it real soon. So finally the wait is over and we have our new GSM Library for Proteus, ready to download and simulate in Proteus. Using this GSM library for Proteus, now you can easily simulate your GSM module in Proteus and can test your code. :)
OTA (Over-The-Air) is a technology used to communicate with, download applications to, and manage a SIM card without being connected physically to the card. With OTA, Network Operator can introduce new SIM services and modify the contents of SIM cards without having to reissue it. With OTA, SIM card can be remotely managed and STK (SIM Toolkit) applications downloaded dynamically. Mobile Operator could be using the OTA mechanism to send binary java applets via SMS (several kilo bytes) to the SIM. These applets could be installed secretly without the user knowing (actually this depends on the handset). The java applets has access to GSM functionality and the Mobile Phone itself. The details of the interface are defined in GSM 11.11 and 11.14.
SoftwareSerial is a library of Arduino which enables serial data communication through other digital pins of Arduino. The library replicates hardware functions and handles the task of serial communication. To be able to interface gsm module with arduino, you will have to download this library and extract it into your Arduino's libraries.
The improvements in mobile experience reported by Ufone users since the last time around are also noteworthy. Especially in Download Speed Experience and Upload Speed Experience. Since the previous report, the average overall download and upload speeds observed by our Ufone users have more than doubled, while their average 4G download and upload speeds were about 190% faster. Among other factors, these changes are likely due to the impact from the additional spectrum it acquired in September 2021 for 4G.
Zong and Jazz shared the Download Speed Experience in the last report. But this time, Jazz beats Zong's score by 0.7 Mbps (6.7%) and reclaims the Download Speed Experience award with a score of 11.5 Mbps. This resulted from a slight improvement of 0.8 Mbps seen by our Jazz users compared to a slight decline of 0.7 Mbps observed by their peers on Zong, since the last report. However, our Ufone users reported the most noteworthy improvement of 5.2 Mbps or 112.4%, with overall download speeds averaging 9.9 Mbps. 2ff7e9595c
